Earning a BS in Economics from BYU was challenging and rewarding. To excel in such a competitive field of study required advanced skills in math, statistics, and logic. In addition, having studied the Russian language for 4 years (2 in high school and 2 in college), lived in Russia for 2 years, and tutored students of the language, I am uniquely qualified to tutor students interested in the Russian language. I like to first get an idea of what the student knows about the problem.. I find that the more time I spend listening to what they know it naturally turns into what pieces I need to add-in. Unless they came to the session to learn new material that would be a different scenario entirely in which it would depend on the student how I taught. I would have to find out what type of a learner they are. Whether it be a visual learner, if they need examples or are an entirely conceptual type of learner.
Throughout college I had extensive experience working with classmates while we solved math equations and physics problems together. I did volunteer work teaching English to children in Mexico as well as teaching English to college age students in Mexico.

I like to have visuals. They are important no matter what age. i use powerpoint, pictures, think of stories, and try to get the students involved as much as they can. People either learn, by seeng, doing, or both, so it is good to teach using all of the learning tools.
