I excelled in my studies in the Navy's nuclear power program as a machinist mate and engineering laboratory technician. I subsequently obtained a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I worked for several years in chemical design at Oak Ridge's National Nuclear Security Complex. A Little Bit About Me...

In college, I tutored grammar school, high school and college students in various math and science courses. Subjects included algebra, calculus, chemistry, and physics. In graduate school, I trained graduate, medical and high school students in various lab techniques and concepts. I also played a large role in managing their laboratory projects. It was at this point that I decided I wanted to become a teacher. After graduating, I became a substitute teacher and also co-instructed an online course for my undergraduate college.
