School can be tough, but life without school is tougher!

I am a high school graduate. I am looking at furthering my schooling in art. I love children and the honesty about them. I feel as if someone teaching or learning by someone their own age can make a big difference. I have been a student mentor for many teenagers and younger children not only through school but through Facebook. Many students come to me with questions about school, family, and just life in general. They know they can trust me to give the best advice I can. ( which also includes sometimes telling their parents if they are hurting themselves or being hurt) I am a responsible person.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an aerospace engineering student at Embry-Riddle, mathematics comes quite easily to me. I enjoy solving and creating mathematical problems. At Embry-Riddle I quickly became known as the "go to" guy for all math related questions. Within the first two weeks of the first semester I was leading a Calculus 2 study group and retained my position as such until the end of the semester. While the study group dwindled in size for Calculus 3 I did still lead the group.
I enjoy teaching mathematics and biology. If the student is willing to learn in some fashion I can help him or her. I tend to teach by examples for mathematics and for biology I teach in a lecture style, answering questions in-depth when necessary. In both fields I can give in-depth explanations for concepts. Throughout my coursework at Eau Claire, I have adopted a constructivist approach to teaching. That is, I believe that every child is unique and learns differently. It is the instructors job to find out how each child learns the material, whether it be visually with demonstrations or integrating the material to an area of interest (like a favorite sport), and then cater to their particular need.
