Since my graduation from Southeaster Oklahoma State University I substituted on all grade levels from pre-k to 12th grade for 2 years. I long-term substituted first grade from January to May of 2008 and 5th grade from April to May of 2007. I also taught 5th grade Science for the school year of 2008-2009. Substituting has enabled me to see the different learning styles and behaviors of many different types of children. I use this knowledge whenever stepping into unfamiliar classes and use it to my advantage. Experience consist of 5 years as a Para Educator. I have been teaching high school level subjects to young adults with many different levels of mental and physical disabilities. I am also state certified for the position and have been certified in CPR and First Aid. I have five children of my own and spend many hours helping them with school work. I have found that patience and repetition in many cases are very good paths to success. I do not believe in becoming frustrated with children that do not understand as it only raises their frustration level as well. I also think that using real world examples while teaching is key to helping them understand. I love math and computer science. I believe all children that loves video games, texting, and the internet can grow to enjoy mathematics afterall that is how all of that was developed. I believe all children wants to learn but sometimes they shut down because it is hard. I can make learning fun and I give them the confidence they need to want to continue learning. I have a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science and Statistics. I have 24 years of experience in software development for the U.S. Army.
