My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations. While attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell I work to help other students that were having difficulty understanding the material presented. I started private tutoring in 1980. I also was a home tutor for the Milton Public Schools. From 1985-1991 I was an instructional aide in a special needs class. From September 1991 to the present I have been a math instructional aide for learning disabled students at Milton High School. I attend classes with them and I work with students in academic support classes. I reteach new material by working with students on their homework.
