Mathematics Tutor (middle/high school)

Hello! I have just graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Physics minor. I have had a lot of experience teaching and tutoring thus far and am currently searching for a full-time teaching position for the fall but would love to continue tutoring this summer and fall. I have worked as a TA (Teacher's Assistant) and a math tutor for the Mathematics department at the University of Delaware for two years and have loved every minute of it. While attaining a BS in Mathematics at Penn State University, I was heavily involved in peer tutoring. For two semesters I spent 10-20 hours per week working one-on-one with students struggling or seeking a higher level of success in courses ranging from pre-algebra to calculus 2. Every job I've ever had has been one where I teach. I had a job 3 years teaching ballroom dance, 2 years I coached T-ball, and for 4 years I've tutored math. I just recently graduated and I can't see myself not helping someone learn and love math. Math isn't a subject that everyone loves but I believe that can change with the right teacher. I belief that conceptual understanding is the foundation of learning. Teaching kids to solve a specific problem that they can't do doesn't accomplish much, in my opinion. Going back to the concept and helping them really understand what is going on, either physically or mathematically, will not only help them with the problem they have, but give them a basis for future knowledge.
