I have taught high school and middle school English, as well as one year of teaching at an alternative school. I am a 60-year old man who has taught every subject at every grade level as an artist in the schools for over 35 years. I currently substitute in all the grades in Hart County so I have had to demonstrate knowledge of every subject at every grade level. I have been in the classrooms of public schools every day for about 60% of my adult life. I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Oberlin College with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Math. I have tutored a lot over the years, and whereas I am comfortable handling any subject, my particular strong point is Math. My approach to teaching others is a holistic one. I believe each students learns at his or her own pace, based on individual interest levels. As the parent of Montessori students for many years, I believe each student must be motivated and given opportunities to develop his or her interests from direction provided by a mentor or instructor, then be given the freedom to advance the knowledge base.
