More About This Tutor...

I have been teaching myself American Sign Language for a little over 2 years. I am fluent, and willing to teach anyone who wants to learn. I don't know anyone who is deaf. I became interested in American Sign Language while watching a TV show on ABC Family called Switched At Birth. The show encouraged me to learn, and I hope I can encourage someone else to learn as well. I don't charge much because I don't have a lot of experience with teaching/tutoring, but give me a chance and i will make it worth it. I cannot teach baby sign language only regular sign language. that is my only preference.
I use American Sign Language dictionaries and the internet while also showing the student how to use American Sign Language myself.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated cum laude from Kent State University Stark with a BA in English and dual minors in Writing and History. The courses that I completed required an extensive amount of research and writing, in which I excelled. I also completed coursework in Grammar and in Tutoring Writing, an upper division English class which allowed me to gain employment in the University's Writing Center. As a tutor in the Writing Center I worked one-on-one with individual students on a variety of different subjects, organized Grammar Workshops, and visited classrooms to instruct students on the Writing Process.

Upon completion of my program and graduation from Kent State in December 2007, I received my Bachelor of Science in Education. I graduated with the honor of Magna Cum Laude because of a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.74. As a special education teacher, I have a great deal of experience in working with beginning readers and writers, as well as beginning math. However, I am certified to teach learners in grades K-12.
