A Little Bit About Me...

I am a graduate of a small private University in Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Design. I have taken ample Mathematics classes since my graduation in 2005 and have spent in all about seven years tutoring and teaching both kids and adults in Mathematics, Science and English. I understand Mathematics as a second language and excel in Science and English because of my knack for memorization. I am a people person and get along with kids very easily. I have been married for almost nine years and hope to someday have kids of my own.
I love working with children and kids of all ages. My teaching methods include asking many questions to encourage children to reach for the answer(s) as well as to make the subjects as fun and as interesting as possible. I am often described as laid back. I focus on the key components of learning and students are surprised when they understand more than they thought that they did. With music, I enjoy beginners equally as well as more accomplished students. I also enjoy a good joke now and then.
In public schools, I have taught all grades 7-12. I have taught high school physics, high school chemistry, high school biology, 7th grade science. I received a minor in chemistry that required me to also take the calculus series in high school. I have also taken some higher levels of math in college such as Differential Equations. I have also taught all levels of band from beginners to high school. I perform in two different groups. I enjoy playing jazz the most. I have a background in psychology that qualifies me to function as a counselor in public schools.
