I have taught Italian for many years now, having studied in Italy,lived and visited there many times during the last 30 years. I am at the level of a native speaker regarding proficiency. I use a modern teaching method based on scientific evidence that children learn 60% of their native language by listening, 30% by speaking, and only 5% each by reading and writing. Learning should be fun, so although grammar is important, the ability to understand and be understood should remain in the forefront. I was a substitute teacher for Elkton High School, during the year 2006 and 2007. I taught French I - IV and other courses as required. I taught Italian and French at two community colleges from 2004 to 2006. I have also tutored French and other subjects since 1998 in France and the United States. I like to use a lot of visual supports, use scenarios or puppet shows (for young children) to have interaction in the language.
