Experience Summary
I tutored privately in French for many years and took my junior year of college in France. I then took my Masters Degree in Paris, France. I lived & worked in France for 5 years. I worked for Mack Trucks (then owned by Renault in France)for the French management and then Swedish management when Mack was bought by Volvo. There I taught corporate classes in French (3 levels). I also designed & managed a program called "Le Grand Echange", an exchange program for children of employees of both Mack and Renault. I also taught beginning French in the evenings at Muhlenberg College. Since, I have traveled abroad and have learned 2 new languages. I have tutored many private students in French, also Spanish, Italian and Swedish.
Teaching Style
I am a firm believer in learning the basics in foreign language. You must first build a foundation on which to place additional building blocks of knowledge. I use a commercial grammar text and workbook, which I select according to the needs and age of the specific student. We work through grammar and exercises with cultural lessons included. I include practice in conversation and composition as well. We work on any class-related material and address specific concerns of the student. Although I believe one-on-one teaching to be the most beneficial to the student, I enjoy teaching small groups.
