I have always believed that a good teacher is the best tool to help students learn. Having personal experience with learning disabilities, I do not think that they prevent anyone from learning; rather, they provide students with a better understanding of themselves. Realizing that we all learn differently, I believe that teaching should incorporate multiple methods of presentation. I think that demonstrations and examples, which relate to everyday life, are two of the best methods when learning a new concept. I have experience with children and adults with ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome, and found they perform best when interested. As a patient and understanding person, I adapt my teaching style to reflect the needs of each student. As a motivated person, I attended UNCG as an undergraduate and graduate student while working full time. I have received both a BS and MS in Biochemistry.
