I enjoyed seeing the children learn and show pride in their accomplishments. I loved helping these children grow and improve their test scores. Many of children showed marked improvement in their work. I found different strategies of teaching worked best with different children. I tried to teach to each child in a way that was best for them. Many children liked board, some learning through art, many liked to read out loud, some preferred me reading along with them. I used contests and games to make the learning process fun. I have my BS in Elementary Education with minors in Science and Social Studies. I completed my student teaching requirements in inner city Milwaukee. I then was hired right out of college to teach 5th grade in Arizona which I did for two years. I then transferred to third grade and began my masters program in reading. I have an anticipated graduation in May of 2010. I hvae tutored students all three years in various subjects.

My teaching style is Socratic. I find out where the student's understanding lies, and then I lead them through the process of discovery. This is an interactive process. I do not believe that a student will stay involved if they are not actively engaged. Math is somewhat different. After breaking down the method of problem-solving used in the student's textbook, I would guide them step-by-step through the problem-solving process.
