Upon enrolling my children in school, I decided to be an active part of their education. So, I assisted their teachers with everything I could. Eventually, I became a trusted part of the school system (an honorary teacher, so to speak). They began giving me more responsibilities, concerning the children of the school. I tutored hundreds of students to increase their FCAT results, single-handedly; I corrected documents, daily; I worked on setting up the computers for the teachers and students, and I trained both to use them. My comments on tutoring Writing : I have much experience in technical writing. I can also help with college English papers, including research papers.

I have done private tutoring of high school students in math from pre-algebra to calculus and in other subjects. I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in an electric machinery laboratory for non-electrical engineering majors. My own experience with standardized tests includes having taken the ACT in 1971 with scores ranging from 22 (76th percentile) in English to 31 (97th percentile) in math with a composite of 27 (93rd percentile) and having passed the GRE in 1975. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with children for several years. I started by teaching dance at a local dance studio while I was in high school. It was from this experience that I chose to go to college to become a teacher. I have a degree in Elementary Education and am ESOL certified. I have experience as a substitute teacher and have worked with both elementary and middle school students.

English has always been my best subject. It was natural for me to major in English Education when I decided to go back to college. I believe that when I teach English, I make it fun but most importantly, understandable. I love reading and reviewing the different genres that this subject covers, especially short stories and novels.
