For "Writing Research Papers" I would start with an excellent published paper and then I would review the student's work with explanation. For "U. S. Government" I would incorporate the skill of outlining and review the student's outlines until the important material was included and learned For "Statistics" there is nothing like doing problems. I would start with an explanation of the chapter's subject matter and work with the student in doing problems and discussing the method and meaning.

I am a homeschooling mom of 20 years. I have homeschooled my 6 kids K through 12th grade. Three of my children have graduated my homeschool. Two of those have completed college and one is in her sophomore year. I am still teaching 3 of my kids. Over the years, I have taught every grade and every subject. Most years I have been doing both phonics and physics. Over the past year I have been tutoring kids in math and language arts.
I firmly believe that it is the responsibility of the teacher to find a way to present material so it is understood by the student. During my master's program for educational psychology, I realized that I had to teach and work with children who had identified needs. In the middle of completing my Master's, I began teaching Special Education in an inner-city middle school. I was responsible for adapting curriculum to meet the individual needs of students, implementing accommodations and modifications, co-teaching, as well as acting as a case manager.
