Writing is one of my top subjects!

Above all, I make sure what we're learning is relevant to the student and is based off their interests-- not random and isolated. What sticks is what they care about and find interesting.
I have 20+ years as a highly qualified educator and I still have tons of energy and passion for teaching. I'm friendly, sometimes a little goofy, non-judgmental, and I have a special place in my heart for young folks who struggle in school. There are 3 options for services: (1) A multi-session plan based on the specific academic needs of the student (2) Help with day-to-day school work involving anything related to Language Arts; reading, research, writing, etc.(3) A hybrid of the two which would include a multi-session plan and on-demand homework help.

I prefer to meet with you sometime before we get started for coffee or something, to make iron out things like payment and the details and expectations of the tutoring job, and to make sure neither of us thinks the other is an ax murderer.
I was a peer tutor for four years as a student at Lubbock Christian University, working with fellow students in English, history, study skills, GRE prep, philosophy, and algebra. I am currently working on a Master's Degree in Education. I have tutored occasionally since graduating from LCU, working with elementary kids through adults pursuing graduate education.

My comments on tutoring Writing : I have a BA in English

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities. I also volunteered at the learning tree center daycare preschool where I helped with story time and art activities. I was a religious education teacher from 2003 to 2004. I love the idea of being the person that has helped someone further their knowledge. I have always been a person that will take the time to teach someone something so they fully understand what they’re doing. I am patient, easy going and understand that everyone learns differently. I believe if you help the student get excited about learning, it not only makes learning easier but makes the subject more enjoyable.
During college I worked for NMSU and CYFD providing two types of tutoring services. With NMSU I worked with fellow college students in classes that I previously passed, which mainly included Accounting and Math. With CYFD I worked with young mothers trying to obtaining their GED.
