I have 20+ years as a highly qualified educator and I still have tons of energy and passion for teaching. I'm friendly, sometimes a little goofy, non-judgmental, and I have a special place in my heart for young folks who struggle in school. There are 3 options for services: (1) A multi-session plan based on the specific academic needs of the student (2) Help with day-to-day school work involving anything related to Language Arts; reading, research, writing, etc.(3) A hybrid of the two which would include a multi-session plan and on-demand homework help.
Above all, I make sure what we're learning is relevant to the student and is based off their interests-- not random and isolated. What sticks is what they care about and find interesting.

My comments on tutoring Reading : I have a BA in English

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities. I also volunteered at the learning tree center daycare preschool where I helped with story time and art activities. I was a religious education teacher from 2003 to 2004. During college I worked for NMSU and CYFD providing two types of tutoring services. With NMSU I worked with fellow college students in classes that I previously passed, which mainly included Accounting and Math. With CYFD I worked with young mothers trying to obtaining their GED. I helped create good study habits and tutored them in all areas included in the GED; Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, and Science. While in college I took several communication classes which had presentations in front of 100 or more students. I took intermediate algebra along with statistics and business calculus. I work with computers on a regular basis (including the internet and Microsoft Office) and have taken several advanced excel courses.
