I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think of whats going on in the tree, right down to the point of the tree taking in carbon dioxide and giving off oxygen and water. Why is the tree giving off water. most people do not know that the tree is making water because it is attaching hydrogen to the oxygen to get rid of the hydrogen, acid. I can apply this same visualization to almost anything.

While planning for a career in medicine, I obtained a BS in biology with a minor in Chemistry. During the application and acceptance process I was an adjunct faculty member at a local technical college. My courses taught were remedial Algebra, biology, and anatomy and physiology. During the hours between classes I was a paid Tutor in the college's learning assistance center.
I wouldn't have a "professional" description for teaching style as my education was solidly based in the sciences. However, I believe that by teaching intuitive thought processes and critical thinking skills, students can easily adapt to the tasks given be they in science or liberal arts.

Since I've been tutoring, I have a saying that you already know what you know, so let's not worry about what you know but worry about what you don't know. I believe that everybody can relate to any subject if they can relate the subject to something the individual finds interesting. I am very patient and determined in not only helping a student find the answer but also wanting the student to know the method of finding the answer and being able to find the answer on their own in the future.
While attending Columbus State University, I volunteered by tutoring 2nd through 6th graders at the local Columbus Community Center. At the moment, my experience is admittedly limited. I graduated with a History degree from UGA. I was a substitute teacher at Savannah Country Day School during the entire 2006-2007 school year. Since then I have enjoyed a career in sales, which I have enjoyed immensely. Both of my parents are teachers, and I hope to find a full time position for the 11-12 school year. Until then, I hope I can help as many students as possible as a tutor. My areas of expertise include military history, from ancient Greece to modern conflicts. I read passionately in my spare time. American history is probably my strongest area, but I am willing to do the required research to help anyone in any other field.
I don't think I can claim a specific teaching "style" just yet; I simply don't have enough experience to define myself in that regard. Besides, no single "style" or method is going to wor ... read more

As an educator, I strive to improve the student's study habits, test taking skills and overall understanding of the subject. I am patient and encourage questions from the student. Also, I believe that "hands on" practice is the best way to really learn a subject. I like to break things down into smaller parts and let the student practice and grasp each concept instead of just showing them how to do it. Repetition is important to the learning process, so I frequently use practice problems to reinforce the daily lesson. I also like to identify the source of the problem and fix it even if I have to go back a few levels from what the student is currently learning. Although my natural style of teaching is patient and persistent, I am capable of adapting to many different styles to ensure that the student learns.
