A Little Bit About Me...

Although I value my college degree in biology and formal education, my real love for learning and teaching has been honed over the years teaching my own kids at home. I've homeschooled them in every general subject for the last eight years. I have developed a love and knowledge for history, government, the sciences, writing, and mathematics up through algebra. I feel confident in tutoring childen in these topics up through the high school years. I have experience teaching children with attention deficit problems and high energy levels.
I enjoy teaching kids of all ages and get along well with them while maintaining a degree of respect from them. I am capable at keeping them on task, even with challenging personalities. As one of only 60 graduates in the Biochemistry&Molecular Biophysics program, I have extensive training in mathematics, physical/organic chemistry, and biophysics. My double major in Molecular&Cellular Biology couples biological systems and human physiology with the "harder" physical/chemical sciences. With over 5 years experience as a Medical Dosimetrist, I have only recently turned to more creative pursuits. I'm currently a freelance writer, composing print copy, articles, reports, web content, and e books. Most of my direct tutoring experience has been through college(I led many study groups), and through work (training med students), but I have also assisted my son and his friends throughout his (now 6th grade) scholastic career.
