My comments on tutoring Elementary Study Skills : Teaching students to use study skills and strategies effectively to transform these students into independent learners. I have worked as an After School Test Prep teacher. I took on this role at the same time that I taught third grade during the school day. One of my main responsibilities was teaching students test-taking/study skills that they could apply when taking the NYS ELA and Math exams.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Study Skills : I have my bachelor's degree in childhood and special education as well as certification in early childhood education. I have my master's degree in literacy education. I am currently a reading teacher in a local school district, working with children in the elementary grades.

My teaching style is based on the gradual release theory, where instruction begins with me demonstrating a skill or strategy, followed by the student practicing the skill with my support, eventually leading to independent use of the skill by the student. My whole goal as a reading teacher is to provdide my students with skills and strategies to use when reading at an independent level.
