A Little Bit About Me...

I modify my teaching style to the needs of each student. I communicate concepts, theories and facts using multiple methods, reaching individuals of all learning types, to ensure a thorough understanding of the material.
I graduated from Frostburg State University with two bachelor degrees, BS in Geography and BS in Earth Science. I have tutored students in college level geography classes for two years through the Tutoring Center on Frostburg State's campus. In addition, I developed the Geography Help Group which provided assistance to students in upper-level geography and earth science courses including, but not limited to, Cartography, Research Methods in Geography, Surface Water Hydrology, Geology, Soils, and GIS. The Geography Help Group has been successful program for two years.

From my experience, I know that every student has the ability to learn. I believe that each student is an individual and therefore each student has a unique approach to learning. I believe the style that works the best involves an interactive and constructive environment. I try to give my students the environment to learn where they know that it is okay to be wrong and to always ask questions. I seek to leave a positive impact on my students' lives so that I can give them the education they deserve.
Upon graduation from West Virginia University I received a BS degree in Forensic and Investigative Science with an emphasis in Chemistry and Examination. I am passionate about encouraging young people to achieve and surpass their full potential academically and personally. My experience as a Young Life Leader has given me the joy of mentoring high school students for 5 years. I have taught students ranging from different levels of Gardner's Multiple Intelligences as well as varying socioeconomic status. I welcome the challenge of meeting the educational needs of individual students.
