For my BA I decided in my Senior Year that I wanted to get a Masters Degree in Education so I switched my major last minute from Elementary Education with Emphasis in sciences and General Education to a understanding of how people learn. A Little Bit About Me...

I received my B.S. in physics and went on to work at a Community College tutoring math. I enjoyed this work immensely and received excellent reviews from the students. While working at the college I also tutored middle school and high school students privately. In High School I took a class on Society and the Child which involved tutoring english and math two days a week for a fourth grade class. I plan on returning to school in 2010 to obtain a Masters in Secondary Educaton, with my focus on Math and Science Education.
I have found that there is nothing so rewarding as that moment when a subject 'clicks' for a student. Students learn with a variety of learning methods. Some students are more kinetic, while others are more auditory or visual. I think it is important for students to develop self- esteem and see themselves succeeding, and that is what I work on first including staying on task. I have always used Madeline Hunters guidelines for successful lesson plans, which includes using manipulatives to assist students in understanding concepts. My focus is on educational strategies such as rules of phonics, Spalding, a variety of reading and math programs to assist students in remembering what they are learning so that the student can complete their assignments and use in their future education.

Furthering my education at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX really opened my eyes and mind to wider ranges of educational foundations.
