How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. That led to my doing teaching seminars, which led to consulting, which led to training, which led to my working with individuals as a life coach. My career in education includes a wide range of experience. I began as a substitute teacher covering for classroom teachers ranging from preschool to the 12th grade. My innate teaching abilities became evident and I was highly sought after. Returning to college to earn my teaching certification, I gained experience in special education teaching summer school. I student taught 3rd and 4th grade, then was hired to teach 5th grade which I did for 2 years. Returning to my love of special education, my taught for another 3 years. I love working with people, and have a lot of patience. I work hard to let the student work through problems themselves before assisting them. A lot of students I have spent time with just need a small amount of encouragement and are very capable of completing their work. I enjoy working with different types of people, and adapt my style to fit their needs. I started tutoring in 9th grade, and continued until my freshman year of college. I tutored middle school and high school students in math, sciences, and social studies. In college I tutored in Level 1 and 2 French, Psychology, and College Level Algebra. I have tutored both male and female students, and have worked with people with reading and learning disabilities.
