Experience Summary
My career in education includes a wide range of experience. I began as a substitute teacher covering for classroom teachers ranging from preschool to the 12th grade. My innate teaching abilities became evident and I was highly sought after. Returning to college to earn my teaching certification, I gained experience in special education teaching summer school. I student taught 3rd and 4th grade, then was hired to teach 5th grade which I did for 2 years. Returning to my love of special education, my taught for another 3 years. During this time, I successfully tutored many students in language arts, math and social studies.
Teaching Style
Due to my background and experience in behavorial science, my warm personality and sense of humor, students quickly learn to trust me; thus the learning begins. My analytical insights and assessments of each student's learning style including their strengths and weaknesses, guides my teaching approach. While each student is held accounable for their best efforts, I create a supportive learning environment, emphasizing their achievements. As I guide the student through newly acquired skills and knowledge, they also develop responsibility for their own learning.
