If the student does not see a relevant reason to learn the material, the learning curve will be much steeper. I decided to offer private tutoring on my own and travel to the students' houses. I found that the students felt more comfortable and it also gave me chance to discuss the progress of the child with parents to a better extent. I then became involved with a program dealing with foster care children who were court ordered to receive tutoring.
