My style tends to range based on who I am trying to teach, and I suppose is most accurately labeled as adaptive. I understand that different people learn things in different ways, and so I try to accommodate that with my teaching. For instance if I found that a student learns better visually then I would attempt to use visual cues and examples in lesson plans to make the material as easy to understand as possible. After I graduated from UM I interned to become an Architect but didn't like it as much as the study of it. Because of the extensive Math involved and my love of the subject, I decided to become a Math teacher. I worked for 9 years at the Middle School level and this is my second year working at the High School level. I have tutored students on and off for the past 3 years.
I love working with Middle School and High School students. I believe all students can learn Math, no matter how much difficulty they've had in the past. I first assess where they are at and where their particular difficulty is. Usually the difficulty has to do with basics that they forgot or never understood in the first place.
