I have been tutoring since my own high school days in order to help other students with their course work. In recent years I have expanded the subjects I tutor to include numerous standardized test. I have worked with several tutoring services and have tutored in both individual and group settings.

I use the Socratic method. I challenge my students to respond to critical, higher level thinking questions. It is through this method that I secure positive results for the student. All students are capable of meeting their individual potential --- the key for the educator is understanding that one student's potential is not necessarily the same as another student's potential. Since January 2006 I have been teaching in the Dade County Public School System, having recently been promoted to Social Studies Department Head. I have taught AP American Government, AP European HIstory, AP US History, Ap World History, IB History, Law Studies, Contemporary History and Speech and Debate. When you are in charge of a group, you need to make sure that group overall has to succeed. While you may want to have everyone in the group to get A’s on all of their assignments, as a teacher, you need to be practical. Like a workshop in a factory or the support staff in a law firm, a classroom is filled with individuals who have different strengths and weaknesses. These differences may show that certain students learn and absorb knowledge in different ways. I think my ability to use a student’s strengths to succeed may ensure a student to strive for high academic achievement. This ability to see a person’s certain talents may also have this student succeed in learning a subject. I believe that all children have different styles or method of learning. I will often give students a choice designing and implementing their own complex learning projects and will act in a consultative role. In many cases, I will also teach a the students with diagrams or other images associated to the particular lecture. I enjoy young students company and I do not get frustrated or irate easily. I am a very optimistic individual who can bring the best in people, whether its through education or personal.
