Working with kids is my fascination. I believe that teaching children should not be standing up and lecturing or simply explaining something. Its about getting to know the students, making the students feel important and unique in their own special way and most importantly I believe a teacher should be a role model. The teacher must adjust his or her teaching approach to the way the student will learn what’s being taught to them not the other way around. Everything should be done in the interest of the children and their academic success. All students are different and they all have different learning styles. After graduating from college, I began my teaching career in middle school using Abeka curriculum for two years, and then stayed home after having my first child. For the next 16 years I remained at home raising four children, nurturing, educating and home schooling them at times. In 1998, I returned to the classroom and taught 5th grade until 2006, again using the Abeka curriculum each year.
