My comments on tutoring Pre-Calculus : I took my Pre-Calculus and Survey of Calculus courses at the Ohio State University before getting into Architecture and performed very well.

Volunteered to provide High School students with after school lessons in Geometry,Algebra, Functions, Pre Calculus. Created and managed a classroom environment in a locally deprived community. Graduated from wright state university in 1993 with a bachelors of science degree in mechanical engineering. I have worked the past 16 years in the automotive industry mainly as a manufacturing supervisor. Also, since high school have volunteered abd served on 2 fire departments as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. I enjoy teaching young adults the education and work experiences I have obtained the past 20 years.

I have taught as a tutor in High School, and college. I also taught in the adult education system of Fairborn, Ohio. I have acted as a group home monitor for MR/DD adults. I am presently tutoring a young adult in cost control and algebra.
I tailor my teaching style to the student. I first evaluate where the student is by building rapport, discussing the problem he/she is having, talking to the teacher, and talking to the parents. I then begin focusing on the area where the student is having difficulties. It may be that the student requires help with homework as well as review of fundamentals. A Little Bit About Me...

In my year of graduate school I accepted a position as a teaching assistant. It was my first opportunity to stand in front of a class. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to teach and also help people in subject areas of which you have great expertise and interest. More recently, I have had vast experience working with middle-school students and am currently doing in-home tutoring. I continue to enjoy working with all types of students, especially in mathematics.
In teaching, one must realize that students learn at different rates of speed. Consequently, you need to find a pace at which the student feels comfortable. As most of my experience and interest is in mathematics, I always want to see a student be able to solve problems on their own. It's a great feeling when a student overcomes a hurdle and they realize that they can get the right answer.
