ASVAB is one of my top subjects! I scored a 99 on my ASVAB before enlisting. I can also offer prep for the DLAB, as well as just offer basic advice about joining. I was enlisted from 2002-2008 in the US Navy and worked as an Arabic Linguist and Intel Analyst at a joint service base. From 2008-2011 I work for the Department of the Army in the same capacity but as a contract civilian.

I'm a visual learner, so my teaching style is the same, but I can adapt. I'm a big fan of the "See One, Do One, Teach One" approach. So in group settings I will teach a concept, give a quiz on the concept, and then have the students teach the concept back to the group.
After graduating High School early (Jan 2001) I did two semester at the University of Akron majoring in Political Science. After the events of 9/11 I enlisted in the US Navy (Jan 2002). I was trained at the prestigious Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey CA, with follow up training in Texas. I then spent the next years working as an Arabic linguist and Intelligence Analyst at a Joint Service Operation. I specialized in Iraqi and Syrian Dialects. A Little Bit About Me...

During my 35-year of teaching, I spent 30 years teaching everything from Alg. 1, Geometry, Alg. 2, Trig., Statistics. I was also a math department chair for 5+ years. In that capacity I wrote curriculum for local and county districts. I also lead my department and county in choosing texts. I worked on committees at the county level in training teachers. After my retirement, I realized that I missed teaching and working with young people and helping them prepare for ACT tests and classroom assignments. I have spent the last year tutoring at Sylvan learning centers. I absolutely love my job! However, my center is closing and I hope to move on.

I like working with young people to challenge them to accomplish something they did not think was possible. I prefer to ask them questions and see what they can come up with. From there, I use my experiences and expertise to guide them through the learning process. I believe that all people have profound capabilities and potential if they just have the proper guidance and motivation.
As a graduate student, I worked as an Academic Adviser for student-athletes at The University of Akron. I have worked tutoring at-risk students in a cooperative environment.
