Saxophone is one of my top subjects! I am a current Jazz Saxophone Performance major at Temple University. I have teaching and performance experience across many genres and in several different settings.

My name is Andrew, and I am a Saxophone player in the Philly area. I spent the last 2 years as a Jazz Saxophone Performance major at Rutgers University, and in the fall I began studying at Temple University. At Rutgers, I have had the privilege to study jazz/classical performance and theory with Ralph Bowen, Stanley Cowell, Mike Richmond, Joe Magnarelli, and many others. At Temple, I study privately with Dick Oatts. I have had experience performing in my own jazz groups, as well as in a rock/commercial setting across PA, NJ, and NYC, and have had private teaching experience in the Philadelphia area.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a highly motivated and organized teacher with a passion for teaching students of all ages. I recently worked as a long term music substitute at Hamburg Area High school in Hamburg, Pa. There I taught beginner guitar, chorus, piano and coached the drama club. This past summer I taught remedial reading during the summer school session at Hamburg. I have tutoring experience in Reading, Math, and elementary science. As a college student, I worked as a tutor. I taught music theory, sight singing, elementary science, math, and reading. I now am a substitute teacher and am teaching a variety of subjects daily.

My goal as a tutor is not to simply give children the answers they need to finish homework assignments. I encourage them to learn independently and strive to achieve their educational goals. I’ve recently graduated in from Albright College with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science.
