My satisfaction in teaching comes from the fact that I can pass my knowledge on to students in search of their potential goals. I utilize an open door policy and the attitude that if I am posed with a question and do not have the answer "I will find that answer" and isure the student understands the value of this type of honesty and integrity.I approach each student based on his or her own merits and learning capacity. During the past twenty five years I have mentored, taught and managed the art of dealing within the business arena. While I have limited experience in teaching, I do feel that one of the most important jobs in this world is being a positive and supportive leader to young individuals. I believe the best approach to teaching is through communication and practice. I am extremely personable and lend a strong background to application of subject matter. My basic teaching style utilizes a multimedia approach since different students learn in different ways (audio, visual, or hands-on). I like using simple “demo” experiments to show the “magic” of chemistry. Demos are then backed up by showing the chemical equations to explain what is actually going on. I also tend to use a lot of analogies, that students can related to. I access web information to help explain chemical concepts in creative ways. I also try to get students to think of problems as puzzles. I believe learning can be a fun experience as long as we never forget to ask the fundamental questions - "Why and How?" While working on my PhD. I was a graduate teaching fellow for the Dept. of Ed. Teacher-Scholar program. I supervised undergraduates in organic chemistry labs, graded exams, led recitation sections and graded homework for both organic and general chemistry lecture
