As a current college student working towards my degree in fine art and also having my own private tutor in art growing up, I believe I have gained the skills and understanding of art to pass on my knowledge and expertise to others that I may teach I have worked with children for more than 5 years, ranging from private in-home nanny, to a director of a summer camp program. I am certified in first aid and CPR training for children and adults as well as medication administration in case of emergencies. The chance to tutor peers in high school was the initial spark towards considering education as a career. During my undergraduate studies the desire has grown as I was given the opportunity in the role of Teaching Assistant. I found from those experiences that I have an ability to gauge a student’s comprehension of the material during sessions. This allows me to make adjustments on-the-fly and in the process become more effective in accomplishing the objective. In my teaching, I look to engage students through whatever means at my disposal with a primary focus on participation. Learning must become pro-active.
