Before I graduated from college, I had experience as an editorial cartoonist for the Ranger at San Antonio College for one semester, lab monitor at Texas State for a year (my first tutoring job), and I interned for the Mighty Group in San Antonio for the summer semester. Since 2007, I have been practicing graphic/web design as a freelancer. This allowed me to teach clients how to update their website, taught a college student how to pass her basic website building class, and flexibility to be an art teacher assistant with MyArtStarz.

I earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Plymouth State in New Hampshire in 1975. I have 16 years teaching experience at the elementary level teaching 5 years of 2nd grade, 8 years of 4th grade, 1 year of 5th grade, 1 year of 1st grade, and 1 year of 5/6 Language Arts and Science Resource teacher experience. I also taught 1 year at the Junior High level teaching 8th grade Pre-Algebra. I love teaching because of the difference it makes in a child's life. I am easy to get along with and have a great sense of humor. I will apply all learning styles possible in given circumstances to ensure success and the sense of accomplishment. I am very dedicated to other interests and activities in students lives. Given the proper learning environment, structure, boundaries, tools, guidance, and willingness to learn I believe every child is capable of learning.

In my last three years of teaching I was the Inclusion/Resource teacher, however, I also worked with some Life-Skills students, as well as doing some 4th grade co-teaching. I am comfortable in working with at-risk students and understand the importance of having a rapport with them. My first year as a teacher I taught ESL at a catholic high school. I would love to tutor you or your child because I can help you/them grow and become an independent learner. I incorporate technology, visual, tactile and kinesthetic teaching styles. This gives the student the maximum opportunity to learn. If a student is having trouble with reading comprehension there are various skill sets a child learns in order to help with standardized tests.
