A Little Bit About Me...

I recently completed graduate work in English at Texas A&M University, where I studied primarily in the digital humanities and digital pedagogy: I wrote my master's thesis on the new role of images in digital studies and worked on a project dealing with the integration of blogs and wikis in composition classrooms. I obtained assistantship positions for both of my two years at Texas A&M, first working as the assistant editor for Kosmas, a peer-reviewed journal, then teaching two sections of English 104, a composition class for college freshmen. My GPR in graduate school was 4.0. I received my bachelor's degree from a small yet renowned liberal arts college, the University of Dallas, to which I received a full tuition scholarship. I can usually find a way to relate the material that the student is struggling with to something else that they understand. When they can make connections to more familiar things, then they can think themselves through problems more effectively. I usually achieve this by showing them how to do a problem, doing a problem or two with them, and then having them do problems on their own, only assisting when they need it.
I have always picked things up quickly, more quickly than my peers. My peers have often come to me to ask for my help in those areas. I also see how to apply what I have learned to original problems because I see connections and hold a deeper understanding of the material.
