I have taught reading in both the public school and as a tutor. I believe reading should be taught with both phonics and sight. Unfortunately, schools today usually only teach one or the other. Which is why, I believe, so many of our children can'y read noe days. I begin with phonics, and with time teach the student easy sight words to memorize, add more difficult ones as we move along and before you know it the student is reading like a pro.
