I just received a BS in Mathematics at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. I've tutored a variety of both Math and Science subjects the last three years, with ages ranging from 10 to 50+. I've worked in several math labs and have also been a personal tutor.
I'm quite patient; along with being very flexible and aware of different learning styles. I can give the extra push when needed and have a thorough understanding of what needs to be learned. I've had tutoring experience varying from adhd kids to grandmothers.

I have always loved teaching students the principals of Math. During my time at Harding University I was apart of a competitive Economic team (SIFE) and for them I developed original material on economic principles to present at the surrounding elementary schools and even high schools. Also during College I worked at a Learning center and was a co-teacher in the pre-school class. I also spent a short time at the YMCA helping kids after school with their homework. I am very knowledgeable in math principals and would love the opportunity to tutors kids!
I believe that patience is the most important virtue when teaching a child new material. I have a nephew who is ADHD and I have helped him with many school projects and other homework. I have a strong constructivist teaching style: I do my best to connect a student's prior knowledge and experiences to new knowledge in order to build on his or her experience, thereby creating a foundation for intrinsic learning. My reading lessons are technically rigorous, but are supplemented with frequent discussion to check for understanding. I abide by the principle "first accuracy, then speed." In all subjects, I strive for student mastery and maximum comprehension.
While enrolled in the teacher certification program with Hendrix College, I mentored/tutored an eighth grader in various subjects. I enjoyed the one-on-one experience thoroughly and quickly returned to tutoring at Arkansas School for the Blind.
