I believe in learning to do things the "hard" way for math, making change, etc. Calculators are good for higher functions and after basics are learned. My teaching experience started teaching in a pre-school with 4 year olds. I then taught 3rd grade for 1 year and kindergarten for 9 years. When I updated my certificate (just in the last year) I did some teaching in a mildly handicapped resource room.
