A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Elementary Education and BA in Special Education-MR, LD, ED, which has enabled me to gain an understanding of children with special needs. In addition, I have learned extensive reading skills due to the extended course work I have taken. During the past 8 years I have tutored students in reading skills and comprehension strategies.
I love working with children. I believe that all child can learn. Some may need different way or even different materials to find academic success. I think of myself as a facilitator in the child"s learning. This is a learner-centered teaching style that is very compatible with teaching children of all ages.

I have always enjoyed tutoring students and seeing them "get" the subjects we are touching on. The look on their face during this moment is priceless. I fully understand that everyone learns things in different ways. While one student may be able to memorize and understand facts one way, say by repetition, another student may learn the information by understanding the background and context that it comes from. I am very patient and flexible with students and realize that if they do not understand the material that it is not their fault, but rather I need to try a different approach with them. A good education is not only valuable in life, but I feel that students gain self confidence when they see their grades improve and they actually understand their class work. A Little Bit About Me...

Through my years of teaching I have worked with a variety of learners with different needs. I have worked with children with Autism, ADHD, gifted children, and children with strong emotional needs. I have had to approach each individual differently and focus more on the way they learn, and less on the way I teach. I try and approach teaching from a position of equality, in which I can show what I know, and not what my students don't. As an artist, I am an extremely visual learner, and try and use visual aids whenever possible, which I have found work well for most everyone. A Little Bit About Me...

As a newly graduate from Northern Arizona University, I earned a BS in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology also 3 minors including: Mathematics, Spanish, and Chemistry. Over the past four years I have gained the understanding in various studies. Also I have written many research papers and laboratory reports in the sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Forestry. I have tutored High School students in math for AIMS and a high school student in Biology.
I enjoy working with children, young adults, and adults. Teaching others in any way is beneficial for them and in the long run for me. I am a friendly and patient person that cares about the education of others and myself. Learning can be difficult at times and a tutor or teacher might be needed.
