My substitute teaching experience with Rio Rancho district has offered many opportunities for growth as a teacher in many different grade levels and settings. Daily observance of grammatical errors, such as on restaurant menus, on printed literature, and on school assignments made my decision to major in English much easier. My English degree necessitated that I write multiple essays that focused on grammar, coherence, elimination of wordiness, and other aspects of proper English writing. The editing and medical writing courses approached writing from a slightly different angle, while the traditional grammar course further revealed the connection of all words to each other in a sentence; nevertheless, it was another opportunity to better my writing ability.
