My comments on tutoring Pre-Calculus : I am certified to teach high school math in the state of Ohio.

I stated my career as a 7th and 8th grade math teacher in Oberlin Ohio. I taught two years at Beachwood High School, teaching algebra, geometry, physics and calculus. I went back to school to receive my masters in accounting. I work for a large public accounting firm and received by CPA license. From public accounting I started my internal audit career. I consulted many different companies in a variety of industries. I became a Certified Internal Auditor and became president of the local chapter. As an auditor I trained staff and also trained auditees in accounting matters. I learned how to solve problems and develop my common sense approach in developing solutions. Everyone learns differently. I think by involving as many of your senses you are able to learn and retain information better. Teaching information and giving examples that are relavent to the student's life and experiences help teach the student that learning is important.The advances in technology and utilizing these resources are very important. Computer animation and pictures are amazing tools for any student, especially students that learn visually. The education system is going in the right direction by thinking outside the box. I began my career as a HS chemistry teacher in Lowville, NY. I taught for 3 years and then returned to graduate school where I was a teaching assisitant. I have been and adjunct professor at both the Univ of Vermont (1989 EE Dept) and Mercyhurst college (2003 Erie PA Chem Dept)and taught college level courses. I became a consultant in 1995 and also became a certified instructor for the Nat'l Assn of Surface Finishers (NASF) for various courses relating to plating and environmental science. These courses are designed at the HS/1st yr college level and often require additional explanation to students.
