I'm a fifth-teen year old, currently enrolled at Thomas J. Corcoran High School, where I am a sophomore I currently take IB classes and wanted to start tutoring to pass the time and pick up a little extra cash. I'm drug free and have never tasted alcohol. I try to be patient and usually am. I'd prefer to work with children still in elementary or middle school, seeing as I haven't learned everything yet. I know the basic and more to just about everything eighth grade and below. Typically the setting in which the tutoring will take place will be my house in my dining room area and after that the student may watch television until his or her parent or guardian is there to pick them up.

LESSONS SHOULD ACCOMMODATE STUDENT LEARNING STYLES

I have 15 years of teaching experience with special needs students in a rural school district. During this time i provided private tutoring sessions for Elementary, Middle, High School and College students. At the college level my tutoring experience is with reading, writing, study skills and organization. Currently I develop educational programming for incarcerated youth.
My belief is that all students have different learning styles. Therefore lessons need to be individualized to meet student needs. In order to be successful students need to be engaged by creative teachers. My teaching experience has taught me to accommodate these needs when developing lesson plans.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have helped tutor since I was a freshman in high school. I began working with kindergarteners through third grade students on reading and writing. Throughout my sophomore year of high school I tutored middle school math students (ages 11-14) and helped to train our "Mathalon" team. My junior and senior years of high school I mostly helped biology students prepare for the regents exams, as well as continued in the after school reading program for kindergarteners and preschoolers. In college I began tutoring many students for the spanish regents exam and continued helping others prepare for their biology and chemistry regents exams. Throughout my teaching career I have had the opportunity to teach a diverse group of students from K-12 in a core subject areas. I taught kindergarten for three years. I have also taught math and reading in an online classroom. Currently I substitute teach in all subject areas. I have a strong math and science background. In college, I started out in chemical engineering (2 1/2 yrs.) and then switched to education. My bachelor’s degree is a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. Initially, I taught first grade in a parochial school.
