My passion for education drives me to a place, where I desire to teach children the joy in reading. In the past I developed a program to teach reading and mathe through culinary arts. Through research I have been able to develop extensive grammatical skills. I believe that in order to bring about change, you have to become the change. I really enjoy working one on one. When a student masters a skill, it is very rewarding. Every student learns differently and they have a tendency toward either kinetic, hearing or sight. If one method of learning does not work, then I have tried another until something clicks with the student. One needs to find out what pushes their buttons and gets them excited. Especially if they are sruggling and their parents are upset, the whole school experience is not fun. Learning should be fun!!

Positive reinforcement is the key. When a student sees that an adult is taking an honest interest in them, then they are not only more willing to learn, but more able. Telling a child "I know you can do it" instead of "you can do better than that" is imperative. Even the most tempermental or unmotivated student can be helped as long as that personal connection is there. I have always found that boosting their self-confidence, and thus reducing their stress/frustration level can work wonders.
