When I was little I taught one of the YMCA staff members how to sign and I have been tutoring people who went to college for about a year and a half. I would say my teaching style is that everyone has the potential to improve and that everyone has the ability to learn. I am definitely a believer in full-immersion for the students that i tutor. I also balance that with being completely comprehensive - I want them to understand their teachers, who may or may not be Deaf themselves. Sign Language is one of my top subjects! Two college semesters of ASL, taken with a deaf professor. I have also translated songs for a choir. Although I am not fluent in this language, it remains to be one of my absolute favorites.

I have tutored many young students throughout my life, and have been tutored myself. I do find it easier to work with younger children; however, I am capable of assisting those of high school or college age students who are struggling. I have helped young children learn how to read, write, count, and tell time on an analog clock. Though I do not have strictly professional tutoring experience (I have never been paid for my services) I know how to identify student's learning style(s) and work with them a way that they will benefit from. I believe that children and adult education is extremely important, and I can also assist those of any age who would like to learn to read and write.

Interpreting Student tutor for American Sign Language

After accessing the student's level of the language, I will provide tutoring services to teach ASL vocabulary, grammar and non manual markers including facial expression and mouth morphemes of the language. I can also provide the knowledge of Deaf culture and other forms of sign systems that are often confused for American Sign Language. The lessens will pertain to the goal of the student.
I have always been interested in American Sign Language. I took classes in high school and passed them with A's. Soon after graduating I decided to go to Palomar College and took ASL 3 and 4 and fell in love with the language even more so. After taking the Awareness of Deaf Culture class , I decided to pursue the major. I am currently an interpreting student and recently finished my first year of the ASL/ English Interpreting Program. Sign Language is one of my top subjects! American Sign Language is my primary language. I grew up using American Sign Language as a communication access to people. I have met many hearing people who I want to learn. I am investing my time and energy to all of those who want to learn. I am senior at California State University, Northridge majoring in Deaf Studies. I want to spread my language and contribute my language to all people who need so they can work in the field where help it needed.

I do volunteer works for deaf and hearing people. My duties is to provide lecture in ASL, to teach Deaf how to be independent, visit Deaf families teach them about Life Skills. I teach hearing people learn ASL so they can be part of the community work. Since I was volunteer work for 2 years and 4 month, my hours is around 3,000. Since I am Deaf and Hard of Hearing, I want to help all parents with Deaf children to learn how to communicate with their kids effectively. My goal is to for all Deaf and Hard of Hearing to have their Natural Language. I would be happy to teach the parents about the American Sign Language and Deaf culture. I want Deaf/Hard of Hearing to have their natural language.
