I am an enthusiastic former high school Math teacher (now an Assistant Principal) available for private Math tutoring. The majority of my teaching experience is with Precalculus and Algebra II, but I have experience teaching/tutoring Algebra I, Geometry, Tech Math, Advanced Functions & Modeling, and Advanced Placement Statistics. Due to my experience in education, I truly value the time any student spends outside of school focused on academics. I make a commitment to any student I work with to focus on their needs, whether it's re-teaching material or preparing for an upcoming assessment. If you are interested in providing your high school student with some extra assistance for their math class, please contact me. I will work individually or with groups and my rates are negotiable.

MATH TUTORING AT ITS BEST!

My goals in teaching are not just to promote learning of the subject matter. I also try to help the students learn to think critically and logically, learn problem-solving methods and techniques, and improve writing skills (writing clearly and concisely, explaining step-by-step processes, providing valid reasons for logical arguments). I try to help students see the course material in a holistic context by requiring them to synthesize the various concepts of the course by applying them together. In addition, I try to let students realize the interrelatedness of math to other disciplines and how certain techniques learned can be used in a daily setting.

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : Algebra is the foundation of higher mathematics. After studying calculus and better learning how functions operate, algrebra is easy for me to explain.

I am a Mechanical Engineering and Geology dual major with a 3.6 GPA. I understand mathematics very well and have tutored fellow students in math and physics, successfully for years. I have a passion for learning and love when I can help others learn complex material and pass classes. I have aced College Math up through Differential Equations and Calculus 3 algebra, trigonometry and geometry are foundations of the higher mathematics and therefore I understand them extremely well. I know the basics of both electrical and mechanical engineering mathematics. For example, transient circuit analysis for electrical engineering and shear and moment diagrams for mechanical engineering. All types of sciences have always come naturally to me such as chemistry, biology, and physics and I have always done very well in science classes
I like students to understand how the material they are learn ... read more

Physics and Mathematics Tutor

From my tutoring experience I have noticed that most students who have trouble understanding a difficult concept do so because they did not understand a more basic prerequisite concept, so I try to help students "fill in the gaps." When working with students, I work through a few problems with them, and then I have them do a few problems on their own to see if they understand. If I see that the student does not understand some prerequisite concepts required to solve the problems, I make sure to have them understand those concepts before continuing with the current problems.
I gained my first tutoring experience by explaining difficult concepts to classmates that were struggling. I have been a tutor on WyzAnt for about half a year now. I have tutored math and physics students both at the high school and college level. All of the students that I worked with rated my lessons positivel ... read more
