Algebra II is one of my top subjects! I have seen a student who came to me in the last two weeks of the school year with a grade of D in Algebra II raise his grade by getting a B+ on the final exam after intensive tutoring.

I have done private tutoring of high school students in math from pre-algebra to calculus and in other subjects. I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in an electric machinery laboratory for non-electrical engineering majors. My own experience with standardized tests includes having taken the ACT in 1971 with scores ranging from 22 (76th percentile) in English to 31 (97th percentile) in math with a composite of 27 (93rd percentile) and having passed the GRE in 1975. Other previous experience includes 34 years experience as a communication system engineer. My freshman and sophomore year, I won first place in my school science fair, and my sophomore year also won in the district science fair. If one needs help with science fair projects, research projects, presentations, etc, I am available. My comments on tutoring Algebra II : I don't know what separates Algebra I from II, from III. All I know is that I'm a proficient, knowledgeable teacher. With me, you'll learn.

Any
To teach, one needs three skills: the ability to relate to a student, the skills necessary to convey leaning, and subject knowledge. I'm proficient in these skills. I have a degree in chemistry with a minor in math. Taught all the maths in night school to students seeking associate degrees. And most importantly, I use math all the time in my business as a wealth manager having designed screens and a rating system all supported by algebra.

Experienced Tutor, Degree in Math!

I helped many students who had previously given up hope to pass the CLAST exam and I taught the math portion of an SAT prep course through FGCU's CAA. I tutored LD students through Adaptive Services at FGCU I taught labs at FGCU for intermediate and college algebra, statistics and business calculus. I taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics at a private school. I taught Pre-calc and Algebra II through Lee County School District.
Practice-Theory-Practice. I try to stay very focused on doing examples and practice problems. Some theory is necessary for a deep understanding, but it has to come at the right time. The student first needs some practice or at least an attempt to appreciate the process involved in solving a problem. Then I try and bring to light any issues and cover some theory. Then we do more practice.

More About This Tutor...

My old next door neighbors have two children. One is a boy in elementary and one is a girl in middle school. I tutored the boy in reading and writing. He was able to read his first book on his own after a few weeks with me. I had to tutor the girl in math. she was taking algebra and was having a tough time with it. In two weeks of many meetings, she was able to pass her final exam. No matter what grade I was in, I always enjoyed going down to the ESE room and helping the special kids. I did what ever I could to help.

At an early age, I have been impressed with the influence teachers have on their students. After graduating with my BA degree, I found myself in the classroom teaching. I taught Science and the experience gave me a deeper understanding for the subject areas and how to make the concepts simple for students to understand. I left that assignment and went to graduate school to work on my MBA. While in graduate school, I taught high school completion math (Algebra and Geometry) for seven years. I have tutored children for 14 years.
Teaching is part of my life, and it gives me great pleasure to see children's eyes when they understand a concept that was difficult for them. My teaching style varies to meet the needs f the students I am teaching. Some students learn more through visual means. Therefore, I am able to provide visual objects to those children. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a seasoned professional Tutor for the past 5 years; all subjects all grades. I have a BS from Florida International University and MS from Nova University (all coursework completed earning all A's). Having success in learning has as much to do with attitude as it does understanding and retention. This is the ultimate goal not only for the student, but the Tutor as well!
I've worked with children for the past 20 years and know the importance of helping children develop a positive attitude towards learning! Chances are if a student is having difficulty achieving academic goals, then they probably don't enjoy that subject and naturally resist that, which they need most. There are ways to develop a child's self esteem so they want and even enjoy learning!
