A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a volunteer Sunday School Teacher for about twenty years teaching children and adults from ages 3 to 93. I have also taught scores of friends and relatives how to sail and water ski over the past three decades. I enjoy imparting knowledge to others so that they might learn and grow and so that their lives might be enriched because they have met me.
I am patient and kind. I simplify subjects and teach using examples and stories. I try to engage the student with practical examples and when possible actual experiences. I put my heart and soul into teaching and my students appreciate that and enjoy my company, too.

I believe the first step is to always ascertain where a student is in their comprehension of the subject and what their propensity is to learn (i.e. quick learner, learns by examples etc.). That gives me an idea of how fast/slow to go and how best to get to cement actual learning. Generally, I like to get the student to arrive at answers by asking pointed questions so that their minds can understand the process versus simply memorizing the answers. I also believe in providing both positive feedback as well as constructive criticism where needed.
I have always been fascinated by numbers and how the analysis of numbers can be used in nearly everything we do.
