Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I take a hands on material approach to learning/teaching. I feel that young students learn best when they can physically learn, such as through blocks/puzzles/interactive learning devices and other similar approaches. I try to let the student use their hands as much as I can to aid in their learning process. For older students such as my high school students or their college counterparts I use more direct audial teaching and visual teaching styles. Every person learns differently, so I cater my teaching style to each individual learner.

I always tailor lessons to students’ level and interests. For example if a student is interested in cooking I will talk about the cuisine of France and terms too use when talking about preparing meals. I like to use drama techniques to facilitate learning as it helps to the student to feel comfortable in situations they would encounter when they are traveling using the foreign language.
