I actually started tutoring while I was still in college, helping out one of the science/math teachers, and proctoring classes when she needed me to. I have a BS in Natural Science with a biology emphasis, from which I've gained knowledge in most areas of science and math. Besides helping to teach in college, I also was a tutor for three years, in several subjects including Chemistry, Algebra, Calculus I and II, Physics, and more. I also was a member of the English Honor Society, where I proof-read papers for students once a week.

I work with student(s) in such a way as to demonstrate the problem or similar problems and then break down the essential steps so as to make it intelligible to the student(s). Sometimes, while defining a problem, it is also important to look at the problem critically and identify why certain attributes are arranged in a certain order. Good visualization is also very important in Mathematics and the Sciences; therefore, I make heavy use of illustrations and the graphing calculator. It is very helpful to know how to instruct the student in the use of the calculator, (TI83/84) as this is also useful in problem-solving.
