I am a current Honors Student at Eastern Kentucky University, studying both Spanish and the Visual Arts. I am in my seventh year of Spanish language and cultural studies, and have had many opportunities to improve my language skills through my courses of study, translating for Spanish-speakers, and immersing myself in the Hispanic community. In High School, I took AP Spanish and genuinely enjoyed it. Visual Art has always been my passion. In high school, I took courses such as Art 1, Painting, Ceramics/ Pottery 1 and 2, Independent study Ceramics/ Pottery, and Crafts. I am currently working towards an undergraduate degree in this field as well. I work best with pre-school, kindergarten, and first graders and have had lots of experience with Spanish speaking children. I consider myself a hands-on teacher. I believe that all children can excel in the right learning environment when given opportunity to experience and experiment with learning tools. I love using music to teach reading and math. Most children just need someone to be kind, patient and understanding. I am a kinesthetic learner myself, so I have found that when a child can use their five senses and involve their whole being, learning comes much more easily and quickly.
